ANDROID SECRET CODES TO ACCESS YOUR HIDDEN INFORMATION

The USSD codes on Android are not that secret codes that will help us, nerds, to toy with our smartphones or even bricking sometimes. They can be useful to access information on your device, for development or to perform actions quickly.

Secret codes on Android, what is it?

The USSD codes

Often confused with the secret codes on Android. First, USSD means  unstructured supplementary service data or French  Additional services for unstructured data . It is a protocol for sending information via GSM, 3G or 4G. The idea is to trigger remote actions, sending a specific code for each.

For entering, simply proceed directly from the pad to the calling application. They begin and generally end with a pound or an asterisk. You can find a list from your network, as in  Airtel  for example. Some commands have been standardized and are available globally unchanged. They permitent example of programming a call transfer.

You can request information to the server of your operator thanks to them, that’s all. They work the same level as the specific Android secret codes, so it is easy to confuse them.

In fact, it is traditionally used to request information from their mobile operator. You may know the famous # # 123 Orange, which allows to know his credit balance. It is a USSD code!

The hidden face of USSD codes

This is less true now, but at one time some experts sounded the alarm about the potential for exploits on Android. The protocol can be used for malicious by applications or even websites.

Android Secret Codes

They have a special feature, they always end with a sharp, but generally begin with an asterisk. Unlike USSD codes, it does not need to be connected to the network to activate: logic, since they act directly on and the Android system.

They are actually stored in file systems and depend on the version installed on the smartphone. Many codes are obsolete in the transition to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The most interesting of them is by far the information menu on the phone.

Also, note that since the arrival of Lollipop some codes are deleted, others implemented. We update the list when we get information regularly.

Note that some manufacturers are adding their two cents with new codes on some of their terminals. We try to give you as complete a list as possible. It will eventually be updated when we discover new secret codes.
